It's obvious the old ones were in bad shape, but what are the symptoms of leaking caps? Did changing them out make a big difference in the monitor? -Ace- --- End quote --- Like paigeoliver said, replacing the caps can cure all sorts of funky problems like "jailbars", smearing, dim colors, etc... I recapped this monitor just as preventative maintenance. The monitor wasn't very bad at all and I had been using it as-is, but I'm getting ready to install it in a cocktail and I didn't want to take it back out in a year or two to recap it then. I could tell that the caps were original (1988), so I figured I was running on borrowed time already. For $5 and about an hour of my time to save a headache later seemed like a good idea. :) SirP - raster monitor |

I have the same issues (above) regarding snail mail and prefer to use PayPal when I can. Bob does not accept it to keep his prices down but he also told me that PayPal has been banned in several states including his state of residence (Louisiana if memory serves me right). To buy from Bob, he turned me onto a money order service at www.payingfast.com Basically, you purchase the MO over the net using your credit card. They notify him and take care of the mailing, etc. The fees are decent and I have found the service to be reliable. Anyway, it beats running around to the bank and/or post office. |
