Hi guys, Im in the process of finallising my Golden tee cabinet conversion. When I first got the cab it was in a semi working fashion. I have changed the arcade monitor, replaced the sound system and added a new marquee and art work. I am using the golden tee board and have set it all via an arcade vga conector to the board from pc. I am using a ke72-t hagstrom encoder. The coin door has a klingson validator UK v3.2 ?? I am having a few issues in the following areas that i need help with to complete project please bear with me as this might be a bit lengthy. 1. I am wanting to get 3 rectangle led lit buttons as admin controls on the top of my yet to be designed control panel. I was thinking of mapping them to 1,3 and esc buttons for use in mamewah with the logic being I can start a game, skip through emulators and esc/ end a game and get me back to menu system. My problem is this how do I light the buttons? where do I power them from these are the buttons I am refering to (see bottom of page). 2. The cabinet has a fully working coin door that has an electronic system rather than the standard cherry switch style. I am wanting to use this with mame and make the cabinet as realistic as possible I dont want to have a coin button on the control panel I feel that would spoil all the fun. My problems with this are: 1. Will the coin door recognise different coins being used in mame hope that makes sense. For example if I put a 50p coin in the machine will it give me 3 credits or just recognise it as 1 coin 1 credit regardless of value of coin? 2. How do I connect this to my hagstrom encoder? I have noticed that there is a conector attached to the coin door I removed it and it revealed several pronges with different values written next to each one : SW1, SW2, 0V, O/P2,LAMP,12V,?ET(The first letter on this is scratched off),12V,0P1,0V, KEY,12V Im assuming that OP1 is player 1 and 12v = volts am I right? and if I am does this mean if I wire up one of the pronges to and encoder block that it will not work without a power source? and if this is the case will adding a power source run power through my encoder? as I dont want to run the risk of blowing my encoder as the manual specifically states not to do this. I have no experience with these validators so would not know where to start on this my only therory was as above wire some of the conectors to encoder block and map them to credit key on mame button 5. 3. I have purchased some leaf switches are they conected differently than the cherry miroswitches? 4. As I only have space for one cab in my house I am also planning on designing different control panels for differnet uses: Mame/ emu's with to joysticks and 6 buttons each plus 3 admin buttons A golden tee specific layout with trackball Dreamcast layout with sanwa style joysticks and controls. Can you recommend a program that is easy to use that will allow me to design a panel and be in a format that I can send off to be cut to size with something like a cnc router im thinking cad may be the only choice for this but am thinking that this programme is 1 very expensive to buy just for what i require doing and 2 very hard and complex to use. I will also need a company that cuts these designs and plexiglass that will go over it. And finally I hope what software is best for designing art work for control panels? Sorry if iv waffled on guys just so many issues that i need to resolve in order to finally get this beast working iv had it nearly 2 years and the mrs is about ready to throw it out so need answers. klingon are the standard u.k credit board,all you need to make it run is the +12 and 0v,op1 is the coin(credit) line to the game board/mame interface the credit board act like a calculator and will output a pulse through op1 to the game board,the dil switches on the credit board set the price of play,for instance if you set the credit board to 1 coin 1 play then when you insert a pound it will pulse 10 times through op1 thus giving 10 credits if your game board settings are 1 coin 1 play the letter missing is "m" and it is for a coin counter(meter) leah switches are just 2 contacts so that is very straight forwards and you should find the spade terminals should fit fine don't know any of the other stuff |

Cheers Grant so will the 12v run through my encoder? if this is the case im sure it will cause some damage is there any way around this if a current is present. Also will I need to alter the in game options for each game to display 50p = 3 plays etc or will the board run off the old golden tee settings? Sorry if that doesnt make much sense im getting a bit confused here. My aims are to select a game and put different ammounts of cash in getting varying credits ie 30p 1 credit, 50p 3 credits etc. I want it to feel as close to an original arcade as possible. I dont want to have to tinker around with every game setting if it can be helped. |

Does anyone know if a current will go through my encoder If I set it up this way? if it does how do I get around this? many thanks |

I used poker buttons on my coin door & there were bulbs/clips included with them. You can acquire the power for these bulbs from your PC's power supply. Use the wire harness' which power the hard drive, optical drives & etc...... There are 3 wires: red, yellow & black. Red (lower) & yellow (higher) determine the voltage, use the yellow (higher voltage).....black is the negative/common. Long story short snip into a preferably unused harness, run an extension from the BLACK & YELLOW to your poker buttons. All three buttons can share the same extension/harness but be sure to pay attention to polarity.........aka do not hook yellow to black at some point, which is easier said than done if your extension wires are the same color. |
