| I-Pac problem with MAME |

| Pete Rittwage:
Hi guys, I've had an old I-Pac for years (whenever they first came out) but lost my cabinet to flooding many years ago. Anyway, I rebuilt it into a new cab recently and am reminded of a problem I always had with it. When playing two-player games (Mortal Kombat II, for example) there is some combination of buttons that the Player 2 controls does that causes MAME to quit like you pressed the escape sequence (normally hold P1 and press P2). I have two IPacs (mine and a friends) and I swapped them, but the same problem persists. They are setup to the default config, and I guess I need to sit down and see if I can find the exact combination, but I can play P1 controls against the PC all day, it's only some combination of the P2 controls. Anyone else ever have this problem? I have all keys mapped as the defaults and no shorts in the wiring. This used to happen on my old cab with an entirely different control panel and PC. Pete |

The exact same thing happens to me. I'm using the default layout for the i-pac, with the newest version of Advancemame. It seems to happen most during super street fighter 2 turbo. |

You (both) need to reprogram the Shift function as it defaults to exit when pressing P1 and P2 start. From the Ulimarc website: --- Quote ---SHIFT MODE Pressing and holding 1player start enables shift mode with access to the following keys (when "MAME" setting is used): 2 player start=Esc – for jumping back to the menu Joystick left=Enter – for running games in Windows and for MAME game config menu Joystick right=Tab – for entering MAME config menu Joystick up=~ - for entering MAME volume/gamma menu Joystick down=P MAME pause key 1 fire (button 1)=5 – for simulating coin insert. --- End quote --- |

When this happens, nobody is pressing the P1 or P2 start buttons. Using regular joystick + 6 buttons on P2 causes the issue to appear. I'll get on the machine tonight and see if I can make it happen reliably. It's also possible that it's a combination of P1 and P2 controls causing it, but we're definately not pressing the P1 or P2 buttons when it happens. |

If I remember right, it is a problem with using ctrl and alt in the default config. Try remapping to something else and the problem should go away. |
