Hey guys, Ia mr eady to start on my new Mame project. I picked up a tekken 3 game (working) fairly cheap locally, by the description it was apparently a 27" showcase cab (a tight fit for our SUV) when i got there it was a 33" showcase!!!! No way in heck that would fit! after much favour requesting and leg pulling the cab is at my brother in laws tonight and comng here tomorrow. After playing a litle Tekken 3 on it yesterday, iam doubly sure i want to replace the sticks, and i need more buttons and want to add a trak-ball SO, first issue, THE CP: I am going to grab an Arcadevga card form andy (pci-e i hope, don't see it as a checkout option on ths ite right now) and was planning on a J-pac, BUT After looking at the ultrastik 360, I think it may be a better choice. i can switch to 4 way operation through software, and the stick will always feel the same. Heres my questions- 1- IS anyone using the arcadevga without the J-pac ona large monitor like this? I am unsure of the exact monitor, i should have more info later tonight... 2- If I was planning to run 2 ultrastiks and a u-trak, would it make more sense to ditch the jamma harness, connect the 8 button set to each stick, and just run a USB-hub up to my CP area? Pics should follow this evening... gonna try to document the experience. Dave |

Things to bear in mind are: - you'll have to hack a VGA cable (or buy one of Andy's) - you need to think about audio a bit -- the speakers in your cab are unamplified mono, so you'll need to add an amplifier of some flavour (or ignore the existing speakers and use amplified speakers) |

In the project I am working on for a friend I ditched the Jamma harness and went with one of Andy's video amplifiers and an ArcadeVGA. It is the same circuit that is on the J-Pac to protect the monitor. It is only $21 if I remember and it will protect your monitor. That is my $.02. I have also tested the same system using soft 15 as well and it worked great. That little amp is worth the cost. |

I hadn't noticed that video amp on Andy's site... I would have ended up buying the J-pac, just for the amp ::) I think the ultra-stik and u-trak will be the way to go... and since they all support independant buttons, I shouldn't have need for any other interfaces. If i go with a 5 or 7 way high speed hub, that will leave me with a few extra ports under the hood for usb drive, or a wireless xbox controller interface, in case i decide i want to have 4 players... OH, and as i write this, an update frlom the home front, The cabinet is at my brothers, his buddy with a truck left early this morning, and nobody bothered to let him know they needed to deliver the cabinet here, so my project is held off until a tuesday night start... Guess it gives me time to rder stuff from Andy and rebuild my pc... 8) |
