Monitor Bezels for LCD monitors?
cmoses:
Does anyone know where you can get black plastic monitor bezels for LCD monitors? I always see ones for CRT tube monitors, but these are curved. I need something that will work for a LCD monitor and that is flat. Anyone have any suggestions?
testicle187:
Painting the plexiglass that sits in front of the monitor is the easiest method. Most LCD monitors seem to be widescreen, so finding a Happ Bezel might be difficult. If your monitor is not widescreen and is a standard arcade monitor size they normally sell different bezels for flat screen monitors as well.

I am building a MAME machine and am going to use either a 19" or 20" LCD standard 4:3 aspect monitor, NOT a widescreen. I have a smaller cabinet and could only get a 21" CRT in there at the most and they end up being usually about 19.8 viewable anyway. So I figured I might as well go LCD and get almost the same or slightly larger display and not have all the weight. So that is why I am looking for a flat screen monitor bezel.
When you mentioned painting the plexiglass in front of the monitor. I assume you mean painting the outsides of the plexiglass black where the monitor does not show in order to create a bezel and hide any monitor plastic. Or are you referring to using tinted glass or plexiglass so that it all appears dark except for where the monitor is showing through?
Ginsu Victim:
Actually, using the method mentioned, you paint the back side of the glass, not the side facing out. It gives a beautiful, mirror-black finish when done right.

I cut my own from black foam board that stays flat.
