Congrats. You've just now discovered that more and more companies have weird notions about privacy. Someone could steal your entire financial protfolio, credit card, debit, checking, everything and companies will refuse to talk to you unless you have one key piece of information that you obviously don't have.
It's a hell of a lot easier to get power billed under someone elses name at a house I have indirect ownership of than it is to have my own checking account information removed from a companies file for an account I don't own. Go figure.

I quit using my debit card (Visa) online because some strange charges appeared. The bank took the charges off and put the money back (FDIC, man).

They cover all sorts of things now apparently.
Couldn't you report them to consumer affairs since they are harboring and protecting someone who committed credit card theft?
