I finished my first contol panel about two weeks ago. Its an ugly wooden box but plays great :). Now I'm thinking about making a combonation mahjong/hanfuda contol panel. Does anyone have any links to real or homemage mahjong panels? I've only found these two pages on Google but I can't make out anything. I would really like to know how the buttons are layed out and button sizes. Is there a standard button layout?
paigeoliver:
There are several examples of the standard Mahjong layouts here.

Some more examples here.
I'm hunting for pictures where I can make out the Japanese text as well. There seems to be an industry default layout for mahjong/hanafuda panels, so best to adhere to that layout.
The largest pic I could find is this one. From left to right, the lower row reads: KOIN (coin), SUTA-TO (start), [hard to read, but I think it says] ?? BUROKKU (? block), [skipping next one, can't read], KAN, PON, CHI- (chi), RI-CHI (reach), RON.
Some panels have some additional buttons for betting. Would be best to include those as well.

I found three more pictures. Two from KLOV and one of the Neo Geo controller.

The only button I can make out is the 'bet' button on the chinese panel.

Try checking what they are called in mame; mame driver seem to call them by their mahjong name, not the normal P1B1 like names. I don't know chinese or japanese, but the name's in mame might help narrow down the names on the panels. *shrug*
