MAME on an ASUS EEE
deadpool18:
I have mame running on my 4g 701. I actually haven't tried running anything too intense on it yet. Although, games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Super Street Fighter II Turbo run great in mame on the eee! Neo Geo runs really well also. Samurai Shodown II is particularly fun on the go.
You could always use the eee overclock utility to squeeze some more power out of it (if you are using Windows XP).
I totally recommend getting one though. It is really cheap now, portable, and versatile. Also, you get used to the 7" screen pretty quickly if you aren't using it for serious work. I mostly play N64 games (project 64 emulator) while overclocking, and they play really well. Mario Kart 64, WWF No Mercy, and Wave Race 64 are awesome on the small screen.
However, the 900 model just received a huge price drop, so that might be the better option. It has a larger screen, and you can overclock using official software.

Thanks.
I just tried one running MAME off a pen drive. Pretty good really.
Forgot to try a vertical game though. Anyone got a pic to share?
Also, I know they support picture rotation, can this be set to be standard on boot?
I am thinking of using one for a bartop and would like it to be for vertical games only.
TIA.
