SlikStik Overlays Now Available on Mameroom Controllers

What happened to the fighter unit with the dual joysticks?  It's not on your site anymore.  But can you make just about any layout as a custom?  Also, what type of joysticks/buttons do you use?  Happ?  Other?  I'm definitely going to be buying one of these once you get the flush mount worked out.  And I have to agree that it would be better if there were no screws showing.   :)

Mameroom:

Making the trackball flush mounted would mean the rim or lip surrounding the actual ball would be flush with the top of the panel.  Adding plexiglas would mean the trackball would sit lower than the top of the plexi.  It may actually be insignificant and not as important as I'm making it out to be.

No. The overlay designs were merely the same ones previously offered by SlikStik.  We simply are offering them on our panels.

The fighter style unit is still available as a "Customized" version of the Classic.  We use happcontrols competition joysticks and buttons.

Regarding the plastic cover screws...we could leave these off entirely as they really are not necessary.  The controls typically hold the plexi in place...the screws merely prevent the edges from coming up.

TOK:

Regarding the flush mount and pinches... You can see right in the picture of your trackball that there is a lip around the ball.
If you route the wood for the plate (1/16" ?), put the plate in, then put 1/8" plexi over it, that lip around the ball will be flush with the top of the panel. Done that way, the transition from ball lip to plexi is seamless.

One week turnaround time?  Wow that is amazing.  Arcades R Fun is cheaper (prior to the discount) and they have flushmounted trackballs but if you can really churn out product in that time frame - your a great option.  Doest you panel top "flip up" to expose the guts?  I cant tell from the pictures if your panels have a hinge on the front.

Mameroom:

We originally intended to mill out the bottom of the control panel to mount the trackball without a mounting plate...like we currently do for the 1.5" trackballs

My only concern with milling the top and countersinking the trackball plate/mounting kit is:

1) If using a mounting kit, there are 4 slightly raised rounds where the welded threaded rods are (in the 4 corners).  The overlay would bubble up over these and not look very professional.

2) If we use just the mounting plate, there would be the 4 carriage bolt head visible on the top of the panel (which may be just as undesirable)

In both cases, There is a .01 tolerance on our CNC equipment.  This means that the countersunk area for the plate could be .01" too shallow or too deep creating an inconsistant surface for the overlay to stick to...and would be visible.  For this reason alone, we would prefer to milling from the bottom.
