Trying to decide on a coin door

Originally I planned on not having one, now I think I want one. But I may or may not have a door on my cabinet. If I use an over/under model, I don't need a front cabinet door/access, right? If I use a single coin door, will I?

Also, it looks like the Happ models come pre-fitted with quarter coin mechs. Can these be made to work with BYOAC tokens or do I have to buy separate mechs?

CheffoJeffo:

What is an "arcade door" ?

If you mean front-panel-access to you computer, then you might not be satisfied with the access a normal over/under would provide and might choose a bigger door (like a Happs 4-player or Midway/Atari/Coinco door).

If you want to convert quarter mechs to token mechs, see here, but bear in mind that you can always order token mechs instead of quarter mechs.

I sometimes use "arcade" and "cabinet" interchangeably. Sorry. Yes, a front access. Reworded my post.

Thanks for the info.

CheffoJeffo:

Dont worry about terminology -- I'm old (or pretty close to old, by WarGames standards!) so may not catch it.

Yeah, an under/over door doesn't give you much access through the front. If you want access through the front, my preference would be for a shorter, wider opening like a Happ multiplayer door or a CoinCo door (coincidentally, every MAME cab I have ever had has had a CoinCo door).

Do you have a link to a good CoinCo model, and where to buy? Wider would be better than taller for me, even if I can make the panel open. I made my cab a bit shorter than standard.

For Happ, are you talking about something like this?
