| Can I remove the fan from a Killer Instinct 2 Dedicated Cabinet? Too noisy. |

That's my question, I know I can replace it by a new one, but this cabinet is on only a couple of hours a week, not all day. If I remove it, may the PCB or the Hard disk be damaged? cheers  |

The video card heats up pretty fast in my Gauntlet legends and it uses the same basic set up. I would replace the fan with a quieter fan before removing the fan and risk overheating damage. Just my two cents. Cheers |

Chances are if there's a fan inside the cab, it's there for a reason. Your first option when working with actual arcade hardware, should be to replace stuff that's not working instead of getting rid of it. If they put a fan in there, it's because the cabinet has a heat problem. |

You can try quieting it down. If it's a DC fan, clean the blades well. Look under the label, you will likely find a small plug. Remove it and drop two drops of 3-in-1 Oil in there. Replace the cap and clean the outside. Put some tape over it. If it's an AC fan, it's a little more complicated, but it also involves lubing it up. --- Quote from: gatordad on June 19, 2008, 09:58:09 pm ---Do me a favor and tell me what kind of monitor you have in there, make and model I just got a KI2 that is missing the chassis. --- End quote --- Post a picture of the BACK of the tube in Monitor/Video. Should be able to ID it from the PCB mount. |
