WTB--Midways "The Grid" Arcade Machine or PCB JAMMA!
« on: June 18, 2008, 12:27:00 am »
Hello guys, Im looking for Midway's "The Grid" Dedicated Arcade or the PCB JAMMA.

I either want to get the arcade, or get the PCB JAMMA and make the arcade.

If anyone has this game or working complete PCB JAMMA, and willing to sell it, please let me know.

If your not sure what "The Grid" is...here is a link.

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8010

Thanks, Reptilz

lol, what a cool looking game! Its a midway and you could easily do a conversion from another like gauntlet legends with relative ease. Bump!

I actually got to test this game out at Midway, on account of a friend is a relative of Boon. It was quite fun given the circumstances, but I can't quite tell if it was a "good game" or not. :)

Never saw it in an arcade, and never heard about it after a while (especially after the DC port got cancelled). But it would be great to try the full 4 player arcade once again.

Good luck finding it!

Not from either modern Gauntlet games. The Grid runs on Zeus II hardware, while gauntlet runs on the hard-drive based Vegas hardware. Crusin' Exotica is the only other game that uses Zeus II hardware(I think).

Fortunately, Zeus II is EPROM based, so it would be fairly easy to convert a Crusin' Exotica board to The Grid. The only difficulty would be obtaining the security chip.

I played this game at Einstein's off the drag in Austin, TX.  Was a lot of fun, I remembered it because you didnt see an FPS type game very often in the arcades.

Good luck getting it!

Thanks guys for the info and trying to locate one.  Ive found a 3 combo on craigslist in Chicago for 2500 and then this link you posted for the 3 combo in boston for 3000.  I wish I had that kind of money but I dont.  And Im located in Oklahoma.

Im more looking for something I could afford like a single or maybe a double.  Or a PCB JAMMA board and I could make a couple control panel boxes for it...

If anyone finds anything let me know.

I guess there isn't a working Rom for it either.

Very interesting about using the Cruisin Exotica board and modding it into "the grid"  how would you go about getting the security chip though?

Good luck finding the security chip. That would be Midway part number: A-23726

Call some local amusment parts distributors. You never know. You've got to ask yourself one question...Do I feel lucky?

Well do ya, punk?
