DC version is definitely the way to go.  The Xbox and PS2 ports were kind of mediocre.

Emulated DC version is pretty much flawless so long as you have a dual core and a decent video card.

ITS MARVEL BABY!!

Ummm.... hmm, this I will probably have to shell out for,
as I'm running stuff on wayyyy old machines.

Time to shop...

Thanks guys, I got the NullDC emulator working on my laptop which
is the only dual core machine I have right now.  I think I did play around
w/ this once, but never got past the plug-in for the controller (what,
I need to actually READ the readme file?   ;D) .  I got it working this
morning and will probably find a way to incorporate it into my new cab
or old cab after replacing the PC.

Now lookin' for dual core deals....

While we're on the topic of Marvel.... I think this video needs to get posted:

NullDC opens you up to a world of great games.

Guilty Gear X, Soul Calibur, Capcom Vs SNK 2...

Man the dreamcast ruled.

You dont need an overpowered system to play NullDC well.  I was running Soul Calibur at full speed with an overclocked Athlon XP 1700 and an older Radeon AiW.  MvC2 ran much faster than full speed if I remember right.

So while a really old PC may not cut it, I dont think you need a beast either.  Once you get familiar with the program try it out of a few machines to gauge what you will need.  A dual core is definitely not required.
Ginsu Victim:
yeah, I had to use a sound sync feature, because mine ran WAAAAAY too fast. Sonic Adv was so fast I couldn't play it.
