Marvel vs Capcom 2
Timstuff:
I tested NullDC with Soul Calibur on my arcade PC, and it was still significantly slower than what I would say is acceptable for gameplay. I'm starting to think though, maybe the problem isn't CPU speed, but the ammount of RAM I have? Both my computers only have 512 MB of RAM each, whereas my brother's Macbook Pro has about 2GB.

That could be the cultprit, and would make more sense to me.
With NullDC 1.0.6 I was right at 100% speed on my 1700 Athlon on Soul Calibur, and well over on mostly 2d games. With 1.0.0 I had to overclock my 1700 to get Soul Calibur at full speed, but it was still at like 85% without the OC.
Timstuff:
Well, I ordered an extra gig of ram to drop into my arcade PC today, so hopefully that gets NullDC running at full speed. It'll be really nice if it turns out that's all I needed!

Please post either way, I'm curious to see if this does it!
My cab and desktop only have 512MB ram each, this might
prompt me to upgrade.
vidmouse:
I forget, what processor speed were you running in your cab,
and what video card chipset/memory? (sorry to bring up the
painful subject but it's helping me zero in on what to do)
I swapped some video cards last night...
my desktop is running 1.1 ghz with 512MB of SDRAM
and WAS running w/ a Geforce 6600 64MB video card.
With this config, I can get NullDC to run but MvC2
runs reallllly slowly and is unplayable.
I since put an ATI Rage 128 32 MB video card in it (a spare,
just to keep it running) and installed the Geforce 6600
in my cab:
My cab is running a P4 1.8Ghz with 512 MB DDR ram,
and had a (16? 32?) MB Diamond Viper card in it.
Didn't run Null DC at all.
Since I popped the Geforce in there, I can get Null DC
to run with about 70% FPS on MvC2... playable, but
just barely. Wonder if additional memory would help boost
it to 90-100% FPS...
I'll save a copy of this in my outbox and if it's alright w/ you,
resurrect the thread w/ both of our data.
Cheers,
Vid
My PC has an AMD Athelon Mobile 2.0 GHz processor, but I have it overclocked to 2.2 GHz. The video card is / was an HIS Radeon 9550 SE w/ 128 MB of video ram, and it has 1.5 GHz of ram. 1.8 Ghz P4 might be too slow to get MVC running full speed, so you may want to consider upgrading. AMD's processors also tend to be faster at gaming applications than Pentium 4s, so a 2.2 GHz AMD CPU is actually closer to the equivelent of a 2.6 GHz Pentium 4.
So basically, if you want MVC2 to run smoothly, you should consider making an upgrade to your PC. However, the good news is that by modern standards, the newer Capcom games for Dreamcast aren't very resource intensive, so the parts you'd need won't cost a lot. However, if you wanted a seriously graphics intense game like Dead or Alive 2 to run at full speed, it will take a much more heavy-duty, modernized rig. I plan on building one of those eventually, but for now I'm just going to focus on getting what I have to work correctly.
