That's a crazy price for installation...  I wouldn't have done that either.  My wife probably wouldn't be so hard on me getting another machine, but I would need to finish this one first...  I also have to finish the garage first.  I still need a new driveway, gutters put on, siding finished, drainage installed for gutters, and drywall.  Ugh...  Time to get to work...

uhmm.  Dude. Screw the cabs.  Get the french doors.

Trust me, you can wait on the jamma cabs, and a divorce is way more expensive than then 2k for the french doors.   ;D

We got new front stairs poured and had a brick veneer added, a 12x15 patio poured in the back, our chimney pointed and we're looking at new living room furniture.  If it was the difference of a couple hundred bucks for the door I'm all in.  But i was thinking 2 grand total, not 35 hundo.  While 15 hundred isn't life or death we do everything cash and carry (except for our cars and our house).  We spent too long digging ourselves out of debt to just start throwing things on cards again unless it's an emergency.

definitely the way to do it if you're disciplined enough.  In that case, I'd probably bite the bullet on the doors.  How are you're home improvement skills?  I would probably install myself (but I do a lot of that myself - finishing up a 1300 sq ft addition now).

Just got mine and it is broken....

Just let me know if you file a claim or if there is some way to salvage this.

Wow...  This sucks.  I have downloaded the claim form and will submit ASAP on both.  Please let me know ASAP if any more return damaged.

According to the shipping site, everyone has received them (except DoctorWHO).  We haven't heard any complaints yet (and theirs were received yesterday).  Hopefully that's a good sign.

I'll PM the others after dinner to find out.

I beleive Frytex, Mountain, and Goz (from Somunny) were the only other three left.  I have PM'd them.  I'd like to knock any claims out all at once.  Hopefully they will get back to me tonight (with no issues...).

Both Mountain and Goz have been active on here since receiving them so I have my fingers crossed that no news is good news.  Frytex has been MIA since the 18th.

Apparently the touch screen was delivered yesterday according to USPS, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm on my way home, so maybe its there today. I live in a crappy lil town and DC is often off by one day or so.

My god, did they throw that package out of the truck while going 50 mph?!
I got mine out of the box, the bubblewrap seemed to protect it well, and it was all intact.  It had to have taken a decent jolt to crack like that.

Mine had some damage to the metal casing, but the screen works fine after calibrating.

Thanks Padstack and somunny for everything.

what was damaged on the casing?  I think that speaks to the durability of the glass and the idiocy of a couple fed ex guys...

The lower right corner next to the control board the sheet metal corner is folded under the glass and a small chip of glass was in the bubble wrap but again nothing that stops it from working and it will not be visible from the outside of the juke.

At this point, I am going to get two claims papers written up.  I'll send Gonzo and Moloch copies so they can see what I put on there.  Frytex's made it in with no damage, but he hasn't gotten it to work yet.  I don't want anyone to think I'm knocking his computer skills, but I would thing it has to be a driver issue since I tested them all (unless one of the sensors is broken off or something).  That leads me to be optimistic for the shipping failures to end @ 2.

I'll post back with more progress.

DoctorWHO - did you get my e-mail?  I sent you the forms.  Were you able to read them?

Yes, got it. You made a little mispelling on my name: first name has one L only and last has two D's. But no prob at all. I put a temporary label on my buzzer with the mispelled last name, so the postman will find me anyway. Just hoping they're delivered intact...

As I said, no prob at all.

Is there a way for you to know if they made into Italy? My local post office still has no record of them and since they took off on June 28, they should've been arrived by now.

Not really.  It's only been about 5 days so I doubt it's past customs @ this point.  When my brother in law was in Iraq, it took over 2 weeks.  Now, I know Italy's not Iraq, but it's still a couple miles away.  If you sone see something inside a week, we might have a concern.  Insurance claims aren't allowed to be filed until 21 days after shipment if there is no delivery.

FYI I filled out the insurance claims just now.  Hopefully I'll be able to swing by the post office today before the weekend.  I have the payments being sent to the addressees (i.e. moloch and gonzo).  I'll keep everyone posted.

Since it is my first shipping from USA, wasn't aware it would take so long. Sorry, didn't want to pester anyone, specially Padstack. I'll sit and wait quietly.

No sweat dude.  I know the feeling.  You shelled out cash to some shmekel about a million miles away and want product.  No annoyance here. It will take a bit of time for them to get there though.

BTW, Post office closed early yesterday so I didn't file insurance claims.  Will file them on Monday.

Happy 4th!

alright, I went to the post office today and they said that the mailer can only file the claim if the package is lost.  After re-reading it, I do see where damaged products have to be brought in to the post office to file a claim.  So, I am sending gonzo and moloch their respective insurance receipts and the claim forms as well as the paypal receipts.  I will include my phone number there so you can call me if there are any questions.  Sorry for the delay on this.  These will go out tomorrow and you should receive them in a few days.  I will be sending these either insured or certified so if they are lost, we don't lose money.

Insurance info sent out certified yesterday.  Here are the two tracking numbers (one is for Gonzo and one is for Moloch - sorry, didn't write down which was which):

So the moral of the story is, God forbid you ship something domestically...  Italy is easier to ship to than AZ or WA...

Wow.

Glad to hear they made it though!  IMO, that was pretty quick shipping!

Yep, and the courier girl was a hottie too.  ;D  Had to pay 30 euros (about 47 dollars) for custom duties for both, but still a great deal, considering how much they cost new. Tested one and it works great, the glass is a little off-centered (perhaps due to the fact that the adhesive became unsticky and they repositioned it badly) but that won't be an issue. I'll buy some new double sided foam tape, I'll replace the old and fix the centering. Image quality is perfect. I'll keep you posted about the second.

Just a little fun fact on these monitors (the company I work for used to be the mfg rep for Elo).  These are class 1 div 2 rated for explosions (i.e. can handle minor explosions in certain environments around chemicals), so they are anything BUT fragile.  I kinda figured 1 out of 13 might have an issue just b/c of dumb (bad) luck, but never figured on two.

Tested the second. Except for a stuck pixel (that I'll try to fix later with JScreenFix) it works great. Glass is perfect and centered and image quality is perfect. What can I say? Thanks again, buddy.
