"Star Wars Redux" Has it been done yet?

Been playing around in Lightwave with some Starwars meshes that I have been using on another project and wondered if anyone had ever reproduced/attempted to reproduce the original starwars sideart in 3D. I know for some people this could be seen as sacrilege! But as I have had a few requests for it I though I'd give it a stab. This is still very early, I haven't even textured the ties yet. Not sure this is even worth persevering with. Comments, suggestions, death threats all welcome.

To render it at its full size at 300dpi im looking at 52 hours of computer time. If im gonna get this one finished I think I might need to invest in a bit more ram!

I think you're on to something with this, I can think of a few more cabs that it would be cool to see 3d recreations of.

Looks great. However i do not like the pipe go trough the wings of the second tie fighter. I preffer both wings behind or both in front.

Very cool!
Been texturing the tie's and sorting out vaders tie. Im working from my 1977 star wars poster some some details might be off. Have begun the marquee work and have the models finished Just need to start raytracing. Once thats done I'll get it into Pshop and finish the detailing. Thankfully Lightwave also outputs the alpha channel for the raytraced image which will make the after effects a lot easier. Keep you all posted on my progress.

Still working hard on this one. I'm not selling this piece (in case anyone wonders  ) as I didn't create it for that purpose. It's really left overs from some resources I was making for work. When it's all done ill post it up for anyone to use in their personal projects. At the moment the models and textures are all done, I just cant spare the computer time to ray trace it at the moment. Hopefully I'll begin the final ray tracing this weekend. I just wish the missus would let me buy another cabinet to put it on. Women huh!
