Gauntlet Legends Cab - added dragon bezel, wall paint
vidmouse:
I found a couple of websites with some interesting painting ideas,
the look better than I would've thought:

have to click a continue button with this one

and just weird, while searching for "making castle walls" I came
across the "Bubonic Plague Role-Play" -- y'know, for the kiddies. (what the?!)

Good idea on the turrets, Zeb. One other thing to consider is that there's another style of turret I hadn't thought of:
although I think I like the cone-style better.
Zebidee:
Oooo .... I kinda like the flagpole, and the bastions/crenellettes at the top would be easier to recreate than a cone....

If there's a local one in your area, take a trip to a professional theatre.... The old fashion kind where people actually have to stand up on a stage and do this funny thing called, "acting.".
Some theatres have better painters than others, but I haven't been to a theatre yet that doesn't have something resembling stonework in their backdrop collection. Hit up the stage hands at a good theatre and they might let you take a look/see at their backdrop and how it's painted/textured/whatever.
Another avenue you might take, other than vinyl flooring, is faux stone vinyl siding. I personally think the stuff looks outrageously hideous and there are way too many morons that have no idea how to install it properly (Installing faux stone siding on a garage door does not look good). But in your application, it might work out OK. I don't recall ever seeing a real life classic castle up close, but something like siding from ABCHomeCenter might fit the bill.

What about this kind of paint?

Ooh, that's cool. Have to check that out, thanks. Could save a lot of time.
I'd probably end up using it in combination w/ some of the other techniques above,
as I still want the stone/brick-and-mortar look, not just colored stone.
