YEah, putting it on buttons 5 and 6 is a good idea.  Just to note.  No one has any problems with my control panel.  As I said, for mame and the majority of the time the switch is on mouse.  This covers the situations about 90% of the time.  Just a few pc games I play that need Enter as a key.

Thank you , _Iz- and Wade (and others).  I have read previous explanations of how this is done but it took another description for it to finally click.  I just wired my Player 1's 5 and 6 buttons to the mouse and directed Mame32 to handle them properly and it works wonderfully.  I am still using the keyboard for Enter.  For now.    :)
