ARCADELITY - my first cab
« on: January 24, 2011, 01:56:20 pm »
Hello
I like to present my first cab... I'm not so good in English, so I don't write to much :D
As you see its a MK themed cab, the plans are based on LuSiD's Arcade with a few little changes... i love the size of the control panel!
Build with 18mm laminated chipboards and black t-molding, the control panel is made with stainles stell (becouse of the X-Arcade trackball), but it's not a good solution... so I'm in the midle of planing for a new control panel with illuminated pushbuttons (blue and white), the U-Trak trackball also illuminated in blue and Seimitsu LS-32 joysticks with blue transculent balls to keep the cab frosty ;) I will use a 16mm chipboard and a 2mm plexi with a sticker (picture) between - fiting to the marquee.
I use Maximus Arcade as the font end...
The monitor is an old 25" Sony TV
I hope You like it!

I post more details soon

Looks amazing!  Especially for a first cab!  Someone did their studying first before building!   ;D

I do like the look of the stainless steel cp too!

Love the marquee and side art! My control panels will be made of stainless steel as well. I think it looks good with your cab, but it would look even better if it matched your awesome MK art.

I like the clean look of the control panel. Just enough controls without going overboard. The artwork does scream "arcade", too.

Very nice and clean.

What don't you like about the stainless steel CP? It looks great.

jipp - the side art are stickers

wp34 - when I play and forget to take my hand watch off I make visible scratches on the control panel... and You need to clean it all the time - You see marks and fingertips.
I used brushed stainles stell, but it don't help to much :(
It is hard to keep looking good :D so i decidet to change the control panel, but now I know what I made wrong - so I hope to make now the perfect control panel :P

Here are some "in progress" pic

And all the mess inside :D

Have you thought about covering the stainless with an overlay? That will get rid of the fingerprint issue that stainless has, and the adhesive overlay from GameonGrafix are pretty durable and you won't need to add acrylic.

Nice job. That side art is great!

If you get an printed overlay for the control panel, maybe have it slightly smaller so as to leave about 1-2" of metal around the edges?

mgb - all the staff already ordered few weeks ago, so no way back...

Silas - i clean it with a normal winows cleaner, but to clean it in 100% - the button have to be taken out :(
So I stay with the idea of a new CP :D

dandare - but I love the size of the CP, its great for 2P!!! I think the only change I made is to make the corners more round (I hope You known what I mean?) And I think i make it look smaller to...

I think it looks great, and the sideart especially. I think that the panel is too plain compared to the rest of the cab though.
