Looking at others' work I like the matte look when taking photos and such,
I'm just not very good at getting the finish right.

Do you use a matte clear coat to protect your models after painting?  If so,
what brand do you use?

i havent yet. i should as it helps give camo paint jobs a more homogenous look. if i did, it would probably be tamiya (and enamel because im old fashioned) as the shops always have a large range of their stuff.  having said that, most of the paints in my 'kit' are humbrol at the moment...
