With "over there"  you mean "in a typical US high school"?

No the parallels are not the same.  United Kingdom, and I'm not just centering my dismay solely at England, used to be a peaceful and quiet country, with the odd wretched crime like the Moors Murders or
Harold Shipman occurring, but not knife and gun crime especially at the extent of what it is today.

American gun and knife crime has more history than in the UK, regarding the general populace.  Knives and guns are easily acquirable in the US.

Something of great distress.  Linked to the drunken state of the individual in the original post, one wielding a knife stabbing people at random is quite horrifying considering the police are not armed.

The British Government has to put an end to this lunacy.

Or is it all downhill from here?

Ark_ader, get a grip. You’re making yourself look like an idiot.

OK, you don’t like Britain. We get it. And FWIW, I agree that Britain is far from perfect. There are indeed plenty of perfectly legitimate reasons why someone might want to emigrate from here to the US. For a start the better climate. I mean seriously, if I had a choice between living in Blackpool (ugh!) and Southern California it would be absolutely no contest. I’d move to California in a heartbeat.

But no one in their right mind is going to move from Britain (or any other western European country for that matter) to the US because they're concerned about high crime rates. It just wouldn't make any sense. Your assertion that the US is safer than the UK flies in the face of every available statistic. Last time I checked (for one of the gun control threads) the US had three times the overall murder rate of the UK, and the rate for firearm related deaths was 30 times higher. Statistics like that are damning.

I don't know.  I saw something on ESPN today that made me think a tiny bit less of Great Britain.  It was a bunch of doofs rolling head over heels down a hill for a roll of cheese.  Yes.  Hundreds of folks nearly killing themselves over a small roll of cheese.  Oh god help us.   :P ;D
