I'm in the UK, last time I got some perspex cut for my CP I went to my local sign makers.  I took the CP with me, explained what I wanted, and they cut me a perfect bit of perspex/thin sign plastic (whatever it is they use) and even cut the joystick and button holes.

It cost less than £20, and was well worth it for a good finish.  Check your yellow pages for sign makers :)

To get a good perspex cut at home you need to sandwich it between some wood etc, it helps take away the stress etc from it.
