mayhem:
well helloa again ...
A few small updates for you guys.
Got my self the following today and been ahpply oc'ing my eqipment
Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L
Intel q6600 Go steppings (2.4 Ghz Effective)
OCZ 2gig ram
Overclocked the pc to 4.6 Ghz and shes running fine and stable and temps are oky so not a bad result from a chip running at 2.4 Ghz. Not the largest or biggist clock in the world but hay if my emus dont run at 10% all the time ill do more ajustments and incorparte a watercooling system.
im going to restart from screach on the softwareand see how it all goes and what this little £250 PC can do ..
again more pics and info over at www.Over-clock.co.uk/ivb
hopefully this little best might sound over the top but in the end it will be worth it.
mayhem:
been Trying my hardist to get Chancast the Dreamcast emulator to work. With out luck so given up on that idear for the moment. So i tested out my Dreamcast and found my DC was broken so i put a advert up on FreeCycle and asked if any one had one lying arround. Well ive not got 2 dreamcast's that work lol Now hehe and they cost nothing.
Im awaiting delivery of this item pictured below for the xbox and DC Version
once this arrives ill be able to retro fit the Xbox. there is all so there is a DC version costing £128.00 which im going to try and get my hands on.
I have all ready got a PC to Jamma Converter called the J-Pac fitted onto the new PC.
Just got my email confirming the delivery of the Pac-Drive which is the Led Driver bord for the lights under the buttons.
All this stuff can be orderd from the following
http://www.ultimarc.com/
http://gremlinsolutions.co.uk/ (met gremlin personly and what a nice bloke)
Now to get all this stuff to work in harmony there is a 6-in-1 MultiJAMMA Switcher PCB. Now what this does is very simple. It allows 6 Jamma Bords to use 1 controller setup and 1 arcade moniter. This uses a Remote to switch between them all. So takeing into account im going to be running the folowing
PC / Xbox / Dreamcast / DC / WII wich is 5 Items the 6 In one is a Fessable option.
Pic of the 6 in 1
This is not a bad product and cost is arrounf £60 to £70.
Now i know the cost of all this work is bulding up quite a bit. Know there are way to do all this stuff cheaply but im tying to made C-Maccs work very smoothly and the realy only way to do it is by useing some of the above items to make it all work Flawlessly.
All so another note about the joysticks on C-Maccs. I found it a bit of a pain in the ass having to swich from 8 way to 4 way and visa versa. You have to literly open the coin door. Pull the bar to release the controll pannel, Take a screw driver and undo 4 scres and then move a plate to move the joysticks between 4 way and 8 way and then close of the control pannel when you finshed.
Pic of the plate below -
Why do this you ask and whats the diffrence between 4 way and 8 way. Well In Games such as pacman to corner Smoothly the Joystick was only move up, down , left , right so cornering is fast and smooth, When in 8 way mode its actualy quite hard to corner correcly. Now the problem with 4 way mode is it is rubbish for games such as 1942 , street fighter ect ect, were you need to move in all directions as you cannot move the joystick say up & left very smothly hence you need a 8 way Joystick.
Well after a little hunting i found the joystick that might do the job just fine. But the problem i have is i love the arcade feel of the sticks i have in place at the moment. The new one ive been looking at is called the Mag-Stik Plus. Now it uses a Magnet to center the joystick and to move from 4 way to 8 way you simply pull of the stick and twist is to rotate the plate. Sounds all good but ill be trading off the feel of a good arcade stick for the ease of use. I realy need to have a think about what im going to do with this problem.
Pic of new stick is here
Price each is approx £29 each after vat ect ect.
Another note as well.
Ive fitted the New PC in C-Maccs and well she didnt fit to wall as im using a full sized motherbord so she is on a angle. I used a Old case and litraly cut her to shreds to give me the motherbord mounting plate and card holder. All so there isnt enough plugs inside of C-Maccs to allow all the consoles and PC to be fitted in one go. So ive spliced the wiring and throw in a UK 4 way plug strip. This will allow me to keep the 1 Cable to C-macc's and plug as much as i need to get it working correctly.
Ill take photos of the mess inside of C-Macc's later on and you see shes turning into a right jungle of cabling.
ace3093:
I purchased 2 mag-stick plus joysticks myself. Once I installed the sticks and played around with multiple games I changed back to my original sticks. It was nice to be able to change from 4-way to 8-way but the Mag-stick plus joysticks have a extremely small move radius. I just did not like the feel of the sticks. I can't say if you will feel the same way but I just wanted warn you before fork out the cash. They cost more then the average stick.
mayhem:
Thks for the heads up. Consider them knocked off my wish list stright away lol .
I would like to keep the arcade feel i need some thing simalar though that have the same feel as my present ones and dont whant to go down the route of have two joysticks per player that would just be rubbish. Think the idear of having every conceable option on top is just a pure mess lol ...
