Fighting CP (yawn) - uninspired
« on: May 27, 2003, 12:58:30 pm »
I'm building a fighting stick, and I'm totally at a mental block. I'm going to be layering my CP graphics under a piece of plexi in all likelihood, but I just can't make anything I like.

I realise that fighter graphics are quite common, but they really will suit what I'm doing. Does anyone know of any good examples I can draw on for inspiration.

It's a 2 player stick, and I quite fancy some graphics on the left and right hand sides, maybe a logo or 2 top middle, so it doesn't need to be a whole piece CP overlay, just nicely montaged or stylized images.

I've had a couple of goes now, and always seem to end up splitting into two parts, predictably SNK and Capcom, with your usual overlaying of characters.

I know it's a vague post, I'm just at a loss now, my brain needs a kickstart. The couple of pieces I've done are so clich

My recommendation is to avoid character art. It just doesn't look right for a MAME machine to have game specific art. And a hodge podge of various art looks even worse.

If you like Capcom/SNK why not do something more modern. I've barely seen one white control panel since I got here.

I'd love to replicate these graphics. I'm not much cop with photoshop though.

I may not have made it clear. This isn't for a mame machine or a cab, it's just a stand-alone double joystick almost exclusivley for fighting games on my various consoles. This is why the fight theme may have been applicable.

The single character motif is nice, I may try something with that kind of idea in mind.

I like these two in particular.

Alright, when I get back from the dentist, I'm gonna make some ideas, I haven't done that in a while, and I'm out of practice.  I'll post em when I'm done, if anyone has some web hosting space that I could use instead of putting them on this board directly, that'd be great.

I may do, mail me apbf94@dsl.pipex.com with them and I'll see if they can be squeezed on my space.

Thanks.

Well here's an example of a single image bringing the control panel to life, I don't like it that much, but I thought I'd post just to keep this thread alive.  Everyone hits and misses, I have my on and off days, so dont' think this is as good as my last one.
