You are correct in stating that this is both the general practice and a problem.  I designed my son's 3/4 scale cab around a 16" deep 19" monitor.  Now that the monitor has failed, I'm pulling my hair out trying to find something in that screen size that will fit!

Try to pick components that are very easy to find in case you need a replacement.

I posted my plans somewhere around here (that I scaled down from Jakobud's site and loosely followed).  Check HERE.  The parts that were tough to scale exactly I just eyeballed - close enough is good enough, IMO.  I did stuff a 19" LCD monitor into the mini cabinet which is pretty cool - there is no way a 19" CRT would have fit and believe me I tried...

yes i saw that one but a template is required for the sides that aint printable, ive started a small project doing it , so far so good, and i didnt use any measurements from sites, just need to try make marquee holders
