| 12v and 5v from the same Molex Connector? |
| (1/1) |
| csa3d:
Since molex connectors have 4 pins, [12v, gnd, gnd, 5v] is it possible to connect the left two to power one item needing 12v, and the right two to a different item which requires 5v? Do I need to steal 12v from one molex, and rob the 5v off another? The two items should never interact (NovaMatrix at 12v, Solarberics Secret Motor Driver at 5v), but I was hoping to only have to expose 1 outlet from the power supply for both needs. Thanks! -csa |

Yes, you can do that. |

Once all of those connectors and wires get back into the power supply, all of the 12V/5V/GND are commonly wired. So, you could actually tap all the power you want to off of one connector. Providing, you don't draw too much current and melt the insulation.... |

Super! That's what I was hoping to hear. Didn't want to just forge ahead without asking, and fry everything I've all ready mounted. Thanks a bunch. -csa |

What is the best way to attach the Novamatrix? I'm about to just cut off a floppy drive connector and attach it with some crip on connectors. Is there a better way? |
