Page on discontinued joysticks
« on: March 21, 2008, 07:32:51 pm »
Hi,
We recently had a discussion about Nintendo joysticks here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=77793.0. I think we gained a lot of information about this stick, and I was surprised that this information was not already widely known. I think the wiki is a great place to sort out all the (mis)information out there about all of these old controls. If we are lucky, we may even drum up enough interest to encourage more repro parts. I put a placeholder entry at the end of the joystick page, but I think it might be nice to have a section for all controls. It would be nice to have pictures and descriptions of all the controllers out there.

I honestly do not know much about the wiki, and I do not know too many details on most of the controllers (except how to buy way too many of them on eBay :D). Can someone please make up a template similar to this:

Brand   Controller
  Overview and Product Pic
  Detailed info and pics
  Care and Cleaning
  Replacement Parts or Reproductions
List of games that used this control

plus whatever else needs to be there, this is all I can think of at the moment.

If I can get a termplate made, I will try to stub out all of the controls I can think of. I will have a little time this week since it is spring break, so I hope to be able to make at least a little progress on this.

Does anyone have a suggestion on where to put this in the wiki? Most mame cab builders will probably not be too interested in this, but restorers and modular/ swappable panel builders will be.

What do you think about this idea? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Paul
