TOK:
I don't know that you can drop right into the pop from black metal. ;D
Meshuggah has a new CD out, just in time for you, and they're not tuned so low anymore that you can barely tell whats going on. Interesting non-standard timing and progression, they're the kind of band musicians like.
There is also a punk influenced, kind of poppy band called Against Me! that I tried to hate because I don't like pop/punk, but I really like it. Its real enough that it doesn't sound like a kiddie band like Sum 41 or Blink 182.
My old school suggestion would be Four Of A Kind by DRI. Probably my most played CD of all time. Had the original on cassette, wore it out, then bought the CD. The 80's is a wealth of great hard rock. Iron Maidens Killers and Number of the Beast are must haves.
So hard just to make 5 pics. I suggest getting Sirius and channel surfing. I can never go back to regular radio or just having an MP3 player.

Seriously. Enya, saint? :)
I'll agree with everything else saint said - not necessarily because they float my boat but because they are worth checking out.

enya good. Makes good background music when I'm working and need to concentrate.

Enya is standard library production music whenever NBC wants to suck women in to a "very special episode". They slow the shots down, pipe in Enya, and boom it's dripping with estrogen and cheese. I hadn't noticed it myself until my wife pointed out like 4 different things they had done with it in one season.
