Yep that makes sense...it is the 'receptacle' which is wired to the yoke.

I replaced the bumpers on mine with vinyl tubing pushed over the original metal pieces.

What are you talking about when you say Bumper?

The rubber pieces that are screwed between the front and back halves, that stop the yoke from rotating too far on the X-axis.
On most unrestored yokes, they turn to a tar-like substance that gets all over anything that it touches.
