Neil's New Juke/Arcade Project!

Well so far it is a bunch of ideas floating around in my head. I have them down on paper but my scribbles lack any artistic talent so I decided to keep them to myself for now but Ill post more on what this finished product will look like. It is going to be a Jukebox/Arcade machine. I will have it running Salmon King's amazing SKJukebox for the music side of things. It will then also run mala (have not decided how I want to switch between the two as of now) and be able to run a few older console emus (NES, SNES, Genesis) with a pair of these cheap usb controllers I found online.

As of now I have completed (asides from painting it black and adding some small bolts to give it a finished look) the control panel. I have cut out my lcd mount and have it waiting on paint as well.

Here is the lcd and the mount that will support it.






Here is the keyboard emulator. Decided to use a hacked job rather than waste $40+ on a decent encoder that will be overkill to work my CP.


Here is the test fit of the CP artwork. I did not have access to a printer large enough to print 16" wide so I sent it off with my father to print off at work.




Then I printed a drill guide for me to line it up under the press. I taped this in between the plexi and wood.


Then gave her heck on the press.






Test fit everything in place. I will still have to take it all apart to paint the wood piece black.







So that is about where I am at now. I just need more free time in the garage to work out the rest. Ill keep this updated as I get more work done.

I like the neatness of your keyboard hack....  Think I try that on my juke.  Like you , i don't really need a keywiz... and I have a keyboard  encoder I hacked,  but I think I'll clean it up to resemble the way you did it.

Where did you get those buttons? They look like GGGs electric ice buttons?

They are actually from ebay. 16mm buttons.

Thanks Neil, they look pretty good.
What is the maximum panel thickness?
I thought they might be able to be lit with an led, but I see where this is probably not possible.
Do you see anyway to do it?
