The hardware is completely available right now for a reasonable price.

It didn't sound to me like he wanted to buy original arcade hardware to put in there. Although that would be a solution, it's a very limited one. Re-loading boards from a GD-ROM and having to have the correct Rom Board, and matching version numbers is very difficult without spending lots of money.

In most cases It's also a bit of a devil to get them to run outside of the correct cabinet. For example, if 18 Wheeler doesn't detect all the correct hardware he'd end up with several flashing warnings on screen all the time.

K, did some more reading for ya. Try deleting the DC_flash.bin and getting a different one. I got a couple different on the net, one worked, and 2 did not.

Both worked like a charm.  Thanks!  I can't believe I got this working so easily.  I was expecting to have to chop up my DC or dump some coin on an original PCB.  Miracles never cease.  Thanks everybody.

Fair enough, although it's not as expensive as it used to be (certain games, particularly with custom controls excluded), which may have been where I was coming from. The core components for a NAOMI-based JAMMA fighter cab seem to have been dropping fairly rapidly recently (to the point where I'm not going to get the money out of mine).

An alternative to emulation / NAOMI / hacking a DC would be to pick up a Super board to interface the DC with a JAMMA-wired cab.

Actually that's probably the best choice of all. Good call!

it would probably be easier and cheaper to hack a dreamcast than trying to track down and buy a dreamcast/jamma converter. They don't exist anymore and the times they show up on places like ebay (one is on ebay uk right now) they go for very high prices.

edit* forgot about arcadecabinets.co.uk . they sell ultimarc's psx/jamma converter with some psx/dreamcast controller converters stuck on the end. but for $250...you might as well do it yourself.
