| Marvel vs Capcom 2. Options? |

Hi guys, I must have Marvel vs Capcom 2! I've been trying to figure out how to go about incorporating it into my Mame Cab. First Off, here's what I have: Ipac Betson 27" MultiSync AVGA2 Dreamcast w/ MvC2 As I can figure it I have 2 avenues I could go down: OPTION 1 (JAMMA + PCB) I could include a jamma + pcb into the cabinet. There are a few questions that I have concerning this though: * Is it even possible? * Can I connect it to my current setup somehow? * Can I plug any PCB into any JAMMA mainboard? * How is this powered? OPTION 2 (Dreamcast Hackup) I'm not too keen on ripping up dreamcast controllers and patching them into the arcade, but if this is the only option I have, then I guess I'd have to pursue it. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks! |

Right now, there are not many options. Given that this game was released in 2000, then Mame should start supporting it properly. However! It runs on the SEGA Naomi system and to be honest, until Mame starts to properly support Hardware Graphics Acceleration, see:http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76961.0 I don't think you stand much chance of it working in Mame. As you probably know, the Dreamcast is a slightly cut down version of the SEGA Naomi Arcade hardware. Which is why it does such a damned fine job of replicating the arcade titles (18 wheeler is one of my favourites) Many of the games released for the Dreamcast actually still contain large portions of the arcade code. So to be honest running a Dreamcast and coupling it up to your cab is probably the best solution right now. The Dreamcast was also the only console from that period that would output a true VGA signal. For what it's worth.... I think it's a pitty that the Dreamcast didn't hang in there long enough to get a copy of Outrun2 released on it. Best Regards, Julian (Fozzy The Bear) |

The dreamcast route is pretty easy to do. Not blowing my own trumpet here, but I managed to intergrate it into my cab cleanely and smoothly. Frankly if I can do it anyone can! http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=66932.msg778771#msg778771 The dreamcast is a great bit of kit for mame cabs, as fozzy says its basically naomi hardware, I believe the memory and clock speed amount are the only hardware difference. MVSC2 is great on the dreamcast but why not have soulcaliber and DOA2 as well. Personally I love a bit of space channel 5 part 2 on my cab ;) |

If you have a beefy enough MAME PC, The dreamcast emulator NullDC runs MvC2 nearly flawlessly. If you have the means to get a NAOMI cart for MvC2 that would of course be a pretty great option. If your MamePC can't handle NullDC, your best bet is going to be to hack some DC controllers. Also, if you're big into fighters you should look around (online) for a copy of the dreamcast game "TDC Final v2" it was put together by a guy named Toodles from another forum and includes: MvC2 Super Street fighter 2 Turbo Capcom vs SNK 2 Street Fighter 3:3s Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo Ikaruga all on one disk, Its pretty much the best DC game ever. |
| BASS!:
From what I've been reading the arcade versions are not that far off. drk||Raziel the main programmer for nulldc has been doing some serious work on the emulator and gotten it to run Virtua Striker 2. Choppy as heck, but this is something that is going to be hitting the pipes probably very soon. Original Post here : http://www.ngemu.com/index.php?action=post&id=2254 |
