A hard drive is "mechanical".

Yeah, I acknowledged that with "When was the last time that you had to lube your hard drive like a bike chain???"

Hey, is Nintendo Japanese?  Might explain their sticks never breaking.

If you are any good at PC maintenance you have regularly scheduled defrags.  Almost the same concept as lubing.

protokatie:
Ive used: Basic 2.0, Basic 7.0, CPM, DOS, Amiga OS (1.3, 2.0, 3.0), Windows (3.1, 95, ME, XP, Vista), MacOS (7.1, 8, 9),Linux(Redhat,Knoppix,etcetcetc) and a whole tonne of others, and here is what I say: Nothing beat the amiga OS after 2.0, esp with Dopus as the front end. Just the best set-up for an OS, simple, powerfull, and sleek (There were more ways to mod the OS on the Amiga than I can care to shake a stick at).

On top of that, I currently use Vista, and have only had 2 crashes in a year. Ive had the display driver crash 4 times (trying to get an old monitor t work in too high a res) but vista caught the driver crash and restarted the driver. So, basically, get a computer for what you are going to do with it. (For those people out there that have major problems with Vista, its more due to upgrading to Vista, as opposed to buying a new computer meant for it. Bad policy from M$ I say, to have such a change in how the driver system works, without allowing better legacy support)
