I have a tee shirt with a space invaders flyer on it and im thinking of using some of the characters on my cab. I was wondering if anyone can read Japanease and tell me what it says. This is the tee shirt with the flyer on: This is a closeup of the characters: Thanks in advance. |

Su-Pee-Su In-Be-Daa Paa-to II AKA "Space Invaders Part II" And in case anyone is wondering, the romanized 'pee' is pronounced like the english word "pay". Katakana is the only "alphabet" that I can still read. Not bad considering I took a year of Japanese in college over 10 years ago. It actually helps in this hobby since titles are usually in this set of characters. Katakana is also used for words brought into the Japanese language from other languages. For instance the word "button" is written in Katakana on many japanese instruction cards. There is also another set--Hiragana--that's used for normal, traditional written Japanese. |

--- Quote ---There is also another set--Hiragana--that's used for normal, traditional written Japanese. --- End quote --- And don't forget Kanji, which are the more complicated characters derived from Chinese and used for anything else. They're the reason I stopped Japanese after a year :D Anyway, most Japanese don't use katakana consistently (just look at the signs in some anime movies). |
