GGG Electric Ice Version II Track Ball Upgrade - It's all good!
« on: February 13, 2008, 08:49:31 pm »
What a difference over the previous generation Electric Ice V1 ball. It looks great and spins  exactly the same as an original Happs unit. I decided to get my scale out and compare weights between the balls.

The original Happs Translucent Blue that came with my track ball base measured in at 10 ounces. Next I tried the new GGG Electric Ice V2.....also at 10 ounces. Lastly I weighed the version 1 ball with a BIG difference...... 6.8 ounces!. That's 32% less weight when compared to the Happs/V2 ball.

Lighting also couldn't be better. Everything matches up pretty close on my panel with the panel LED's on or off.

 Great job Randy! Thanks.

Is a lighter ball actually desirable?   I am guessing it would require playing to determine?   Some games perhaps...others I question (Golden Tee for example).

The lighter ball made putting easy. Drive shots suffered badly. Using the correct weight ball gives the complete range that Golden Tee requires. I'll just have to re-learn the game.

Very good analysis.  Now I am going to have to buy an upgrade to version 2.  Also, very nice and professional looking CP.  Hopefully mine turns out that way.

Where'd that lighted spinner knob come from?  Is that a GGG item?

I don't recall seeing one before...

Nice. Mine is on it's way across the Atlantic.....can't wait :)

So, it's the same weight as the Happ translucent, but is that also the same weight as the original massive colored balls, like the original white ball on a Centipede ?

I think a higher weight is better for fine control and it will give a better mechanical contact with the rollers I guess.

Holy smokes !

I just got home and my neighbor rings at the door, she has a package for me :D

It's from the US so it must be.......yes it's the GGG stuff :) Ice ball and button and some lighting stuff.

Looks very nice, and incredibly fast delivery !!!! I ordered it 7 days ago, and I chose the cheapest shipping method !

Expect some pictures of the mounted stuff on Randy's thread in the Main section....

I'm glad I found this!
I had not been real happy with the original ball.
I was just about to order a Happ ball, I just didn't like the orangish look of the red ball.

I ordered the new ball today, can't wait. :applaud:
