Hello there!!

Here is a little background story
my boss got a teken 3 working cab a few months back
and now it doesn't work so hes giving it to me FOR FREE!

i got a bunch of computer parts in the garage so its be a dream of mine to build a mame cab

so i finaly get my chance

so with my left over computer parts this is what i've build
MSI motherboard
sound blaster live
amd xp 2700
512mb ram ddr
geforce 5500 apg
cd-r drive
standard tower case

i am planing to get a J-pac & I-PAC (becasue i want to add more buttons)

here is my question
OS's
which should i use
i have cd's to the following
WIN 98
windows 2000 pro
windows xp home
windows xp pro


Mame for windows?
mame for dos?
arcade os?
frontend??

I would like to control it from the arcade controls

With the OS Choices you have available to you, I would HIGHLY suggest using Windows XP Pro and use the nLite modification to trim it down to the bare essentials. 

For MAME, I would get the AMD optimized version of the command line and use a frontend such as MAMEWah to run it.

Most importantly of all, take your time and don't be "just satisfied" with what you've done.  Only be content when you look at it and go "Yeah, that is EXACTLY what I want."

AMD optimized command line verson of mame?

and mamewah

should i get the arcadevga also?

Get the ArcadeVGA if you plan on using an arcade monitor.  If you are using a TV or an LCD, or a computer monitor, any video card with TV out will work.  If you are using an actual arcade monitor (and why not if you are building a full cab), then an Arcade VGA is almost required.

yeah it has an arcade monitor built in

but can't mame send a signal to the arcade monitor for 15 hz?
