CFL's

Even with an appliance module, they turn right back on after turning them off. It pulls enough current to trigger the "Hey, the guy hit the switch" mode...

same here, similar reasons - X10 for automation stuff, and they send out a TON of IR interference. I have a distributed IR system and a CFL on in the room will literally flood the system and make it non-responsive.
there are some new ones coming out that solve the "slapback" x10 problem, are dimmable, but still flood the IR spectrum. I'll have to update my IR receivers to CFL friendly.

Just be careful not to break them. They are full of mercury just like all florescent bulbs. FYI, I am slowly switching over to these as my old bulbs burn out.

Incandecents are being taken off the shelves here from june onwards. I've swapped a few rooms over to cfls and am looking at LEDs for a couple of other rooms. Can't seem to find any dimmable golfball type cfls though, shame cause the light in my living room (house warming present from my mum) takes the golfball bulbs and I really need dimmers.
Might buy a load of the incandecents and pray they come out eventually......

That seems odd to me.
I have replaced most of the lights in my basement with CFL's and I haven't noticed any trouble with the remotes for my home theater equipment or my slot car track which uses IR sensors for lap timing down to .001 seconds. I actually have to use IR emitting LED's because the CFL's do not provide enough IR.

Had me scared for a moment there.
I thought they were going to ban the Canadian Football League...
