I think the balltops are molded onto the shaft.
The bat tops for the T-stik were definitely done this way because I did actually remove one of those.

All you need to do is cut a slit in the dustwashers.
Then you can slide them into place wherever you want.
The slit will be hidden by the CP.

The balls are Lockited on, because you need to grip the ball and turn both ways in the process of switching 4-8 way. But theres no reason why we could not supply a shaft with the ball not attached.
