Now that slikstik is dead and x-arcade doesn't make quad controls, who do you turn to if you aren't a wire it yourself kind of guy? I know arcades r fun has a quad controller, but I have a hard time justifying that price. Anyone know of any other alternatives?

Justin Z:

Slikstik was more expensive than Arcades 'R' Fun.

I bought a control panel blank from Jack at Arcades 'R' Fun, rather than a full panel, even though at that time I myself was not a "wire it yourself kind of guy."  It was a good learning experience and I felt it was a good, small step for me to become more self-sufficient in this hobby.

Woodworking is probably next.

Wiring pretty much only involves stripping off the end of a wire and crimping a quick disconnect to it and then snapping the quick disconnect on to the microswitch for a button.    Not too hard.   I am sure everyone can do these steps to get a basic control panel up and running with no problem.

Unfortunately, ArcadesRFun is no longer planning to sell blank panels anymore.  They are only going to offer plug n play panels or full arcade units.  My panel that he made was one of the last blank ones that he ran off of the production line.

That said, they are significantly cheaper than Slik Stik (now produced my Mameroom.com).  On top of that ArcadesRFun custom designs the panel to your needs AND offers flush mounted Trackballs at no additional cost!

That and their incredible customer service makes them a good choice.  I'm very happy with my panel.
