just looking at your web page. im impressed by a few things. one is that you must be one of the few people who have used an x arcade 'to be replaced later' and then actually replaced it! also, despite the grimace of the fellow in your artwork the colours are quite inviting and the whole thing blends in nicely with its surroundings (",)

Thank you. I am waiting for 2 sanwa ball-top joysticks and 6 orange and 6 red buttons, that should make it more complete i think. Really looking forward to recieving the parts.

You're right. The marquee is one of the next things on my list to replace. Im looking for something to complement my side-art. The marquee was just something i had before i started the project, so know anyone who man make a new marquee? :D

Interesting idea, to have a huge nose and gritted teeth for sideart...

 :dunno

However, the rest looks great. One last suggestion, it appears that the marquee is unevenly lit - I would recommend something like this:

The best thing about your plans is: they are METRIC! It's so hard to find a good plan in centimeters instead of having to recalculate everything in inches  :D. I love the artwork, very retro yet very modern. New mamey candidate?

I like how you've taken advantage of the LCD to make the cabinet smaller.

How much does the whole thing weigh, I wonder?

How wide is it?

When you get to the Marquee on your next build, just go to your local Home Depot type store and get an 18" flourescent fixture. They are only $12.00, a piece of cake to install and are much safer.............

The more I look at this cabinet the more I admire it.   I want one!  Lokesen, I've got to thank you for sharing this and posting so much info about it on your website.  I'm sure we'll start seeing more cabs built from your pattern.

However. . .  I could do a little nit-picking, just because I reckon nothing's perfect.

What's with those holes in the bottom-front?  I'm afraid I'd accidentally put my foot in there.  It's called a kick panel for a reason.

Looking at the control panel, I see two buttons up front labeled "volume" and two labeled "stop" and "skip".  That's a peculiar place for them.  I can't help thinking I'd bump them while reaching over to the game controls.  Why aren't those buttons at the back of the CP?  (I would have squeezed a spinner in there somewhere too, but that's just my quirk.)

In your work photos it almost looks like the monitor is mounted with the pedestal still attached.  It might have been possible to center it better (a bit lower) or even squeeze in a slightly larger LCD panel (20-inch?) by losing the pedestal, do you think?

I also think the marquee looks a bit skinny.  If it'd been about 1-1/2" (or say 40mm) taller it would have looked more proportional, at least to my eyes.

The rest of the art is superb.  I'm no good at that sort of stuff, but I really admire when I see the work some people put into their cabinet art.

You are pretty much right about everything :)

The holes are covered by steel mesh, so no putting your foot throgh there Beckham. I also need to have fairly large holes, as the subwoofer in the bottom needs it to sound awesome ;). This thing is my only sound system.

You are right about the monitor, there is plenty room for it to be bigger and be lower placed. All I need to make that happen, is to make another bezel of plexiglass, my design is build so the monitor placement is fully adjustable, but the bezel isn't. So just need to buy another piece of plexi/lexan :) There is no pedistal on the monitor by the way, so no real reason for it to be placed like it is.

I started the project with a X-arcade 2-player, and got used to the layout. That's why I have tweaked the X-arcade layout instead of making a more logical approach. But you don't hit the 4 "music" buttons by accident, they are placed better than on the x-arcade, so no worries.

I think the marquee should be a little bit taller too, but that's just too late im afraid :D But I agree. This is my first arcade cabinet, and I have learned alot from building it.

Cheers,

Better reply in english, or else we will get in trouble :D

I got the self-adhensive vinyl printet at www.print2rama.dk - It's was really cheap actually. 2x 150x50cm for 188 kr + tax. Real bargain. I got the marquee and controlpanel art at a local print-shop. Just remember to get it printet on highquality glossy/photo paper.

I can really recommend the vinyl. Real nice and cleaning friendly, because it is for outdoor use.

Thanks. It is a 19" LCD monitor, thats why it has a low depth and the reason I use LCD for the project. I thought of using a TV or CRT monitor, but it would be too large for my appartment.

I have made some new work drawing in 3D. Hope you like them and maybe even use them :)

Fantastic job...the art and control panel really all came together.

Really well done!
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

Bolts are welded on the backsite of the controlpanel (my father is a smith)
