Do the tokens work in normal quarter coin slots?

That would probably be illegal. People could then use tokens in any coin-operated machine, e.g. the soda machine at work, or the washing machines at the laundromat.

:o Good point! Didn't think of that!

Tokens would not respond the same to the magnet in the coin mechanism due to the different metallic properties between the two coins either.

Actually, I'm no expert, but I have been researching this exact thing, and from what i've learned, almost every single coin mechanism out there can be configured to accept either. It's just a matter of figuring out how yours switches between the two. Some have a simple switch on the back, some actually have a spot to place an example coin, and i'm sure there are other ways. See if you can obtain the original documenation for the coin mechanisms or the game it originally came in for specifics. Or just poke around on the coin mechanisms for a switch.

On a similar note I own the Happ 40-0008-00 http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40000800.htm which accepts and registers quarters fine - I was wondering if there is a way to adjust this to accept the MAME/BYOAC tokens as I just bought some and can't figure out what I need to adjust. The mechs shown in this forum and on arcadereplay don't match this one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
