| Make your cab a TIVO..... if ya want. |

I have GBPVR running on a spare computer and with a 20 dollar video capture card made my own TIVO or DVR for the basement TV. Works very well, not perfect but really good, and price is right free, unlike paid subcription services. Mame and other emulators support via plugin here at the wiki http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/GameZone If you have a coax cable close you could turn your cab into a tivo. How does the remote work? Do you point it at the video card or a sensor or possibly wifi? |

I am using vnc from my laptop to control everything, from anywhere in the house. (My wife thinks I'm nuts.) Remote control versions of the video capture card were more costly than what I bought, so I can't comment on it. I believe that there is a sensor that connects to the capture card that sits out (RF or IR?). Kids like to watch recorded reruns of AFV I enjoy watching the recorded games of when the Bears beat the Packers twice this year. Think I'll watch that again this Sunday..... ;D |

that is so cool...is there any thing they will not do... question: what size of hard drive do you need? i have a video capture card that i bought to transfered some home movies but never did it as the graffics were terrible, my hard drive had to be huged just to get 2 hours of movies...i mean huge..250 gig to make it worth while and if i understand the card will take the picture in from your cables or what ever is your source..but then how to you output to your tv? then can you record more then 1 show at a time? cheers, |
