What was your first digital home movie?
DaOld Man:
Mine was First Blood. About 1981-82 (I think).
I rented a laser disc player and the movie on a disc that was about as big as the old 33 RPM records. (Is anyone in here old enough to remember those?)
The picture quality was outstanding, compared to the TV antenna that we had then (this was before cable, at least in our town.)
Actually, First Blood (Very first Rambo) was the first movie I rented of all formats.
Next I was renting Beta tapes, then VHS. The tapes were not as good quality as the laser discs, but they were a lot cheaper to rent. (Players too.)
Hoopz:
Escape from Alcatraz rented from Video Concepts on Video Disc. Then Goldfinger. Had the original Lord of the Rings on Video Disc.
mr.Curmudgeon:
First inadvertent experience was Cat People on Laser Disc (I was 12 and my sitter played it in another room. I peaked a few times)
When I was adult enough to make my own pruchases, I made sure it was Bladerunner on DVD. But as it turned out the transfer SUCKED, so it looked just as bad as a scratchy VHS.
:badmood:
SavannahLion:
I'm not entirely sure. Part of my collection was taken when my ex left me. If memory serves me right, it was probably TRON on DVD.

Some of us still have them.
