Speaker cover fabric?

(1/2) > >>

crackbone:
Perhaps a dumb question... but what is the kind of fabric they use for speaker covers?  And if it's not a regular fabric I could get locally, where would one go?

Crack

OSCAR:
Ideally, the grill cloth will be acoustically transparent.  Radio Shack carries some and so does PartsExpress.  (I should be getting a commission from them by now... ;) )

SNAAAKE:
auto shops have metal grills as well..they might even cut it for you..they cut 2 pieces for me..look !

as for those grill cloth thing,I honeslty dont like em.
The grill cloth dont look right !  :P
radio shack carries them but you have to order.like you go to your local radioshack and order and you wait like a week.

Distortion:
if you can't find something that's specifically for audio, a fairly light mesh should do just fine.  you could probably get some at a fabric store...or i guess you could cut up some old shorts...

but really, i agree with snaaake.  a metal grill will last you YEARS longer.  Most of the time, at work, our speaker cloths are worn out within a few months of hitting the sales floor.

HeadRusch:
If you're going to mount this "externally" you can forget the cloth, it'll never look correct.

Suggest you look into Nylon Screening (like they sell to re-do your screen doors and windows), you can get it in a black mesh....).....if you want to just cover up some ugly speaker holes (as I do), consider 6" or 8" Plastic speaker "covers" available from Partsexpress and other places online.
