When did Mame ditch Highscore support?
FrizzleFried:
Follow Mr. Do's instructions here:
http://www.mameworld.net/mrdo/compile.html
It's aptly named Mr. Do's Compiling MAME for dummies!
Follow the instructions to a "T" and yer good as gold.
Plus wasn't there some front end around here for doing this easily?

yup

btw, it was removed mainly because it was used to make games keep coin counts which make mame machines in arcades doable. That and it was also causing a lot of bug reports (people using old highscores with newer drivers and it was popping numbers in the wrong memory addresses... amazingly that can be bad :)

I never compiled anything in my life.
After searching google, and this forum, I was able to compile my own version of MAME32, with lightgun tweaks, no startup info, hi-score support, better compatibilty with my p4, and prob. a couple other ones I can't think of at this moment.
I didn't use headkaze's tool, but If i have to make another one I would check those out first as they do look pretty easy.
If you have the time and patience, it shuoldn't be to difficult.

I'm sure I could do it but I don't really want to be bothered with it. I'm just running the vertical classics so it's not like I need any of the newest additions.
Can someone compile it for me or point me where I can download a command line version of .106? I can't seem to located older versions online that don't need compiling.
Thanks!
