I might of missed something in the show, but I figured the head (and body) was just lying dormant for all those years and woke up when his objective showed up in his time period again.

You did... it bounced through the time portal right after the people came through.  That's how it got from a bank vault to the side of the road.

Huh, that is dumb.  I must of gone to the bathroom or something right around then because I don't remember that, I just remember the guy putting the head down on his desk.

You missed at least a couple of minutes.  He picked it up from the highway median as part of what appeared to be a work release cleanup crew (although he then went to his own home - which didn't make sense).

OK, I have to ask the most important question for this show.

Is the female Terminator programmed to take orders from John Connor like Arnie did in T2?  >:D >:D >:D

Sarah asked her that - her response was "yes, but not this John Connor".

I was wondering how the head went through too.
And about the terminators:
Why send the old T2 model in? Why not send the liquid metal ones? They seemed like they were much more advanced. Why did skynet roll back to a previous model?
So many questions...

Because Fox didn't have the budget for a liquid metal terminator to be a regular character   ;)

Or perhaps Skynet being destroyed in T2 but the terminators behind the 8-ball for a few years and they hadn't made the liquid metal ones yet when this takes place.

Time travel makes my head hurt.

Yeah, but the Terminatrix was apparently a more advanced model that mixed parts of Arnie's model with the T-1000 liquid metal model.

Trying to make sense of it is just futile.  ;D

The t-2000 (liquid metal guy) was their one and only prototype for that technology.  Tests proved it to be less durable so they abandoned it, downgrading it to a weapons system later on... AFTER the events of termintor 2 and the tv series (see termintor 3).

Yes, the fact that the termintor exoskeleton went through the portal was dumb, but what just happen to it in the last episode was even stupider.  But if we are going to get technical here, the t-2000 and t-3000 were coverd in liquid metal, NOT skin and they went through.  So explain that one to me?

Which I would be fine with if Sarah hadn't specifically asked the female terminator if she had any weapons in the pilot to which she replied:  "No weapons... organics only.... not even clothing can pass through the time portal."

Also in the pilot you don't see the terminator head fly through the portal, but in the next episode you do  (they cg-ed it in).

My guess is they just fudged this silly sub-plot into the story at the last minute, which is a shame because aside from it, it is a really good series.

I guess they needed the head to go through the portal to wake up the terminator at the right time.

Maybe the people wanted to add some nudity to the series and decided to say that clothes cannot travel through the time portal. First to show some Arnie muscles and later some female curves.

Im taking a stab here i havent seen this tv series yet but i would say the liquid metal terminators can go through cause their liquid metal can act like skin (as you see in the movie altho thats cause they where human actors)

The liquid can allow them to carry weapons as the liquid metal masks them same as it masks their exoskeleton

Now the t-2000 could change the liquid into sharp metal points like knifes as he and the t-3000 use the same type of liquid metal to hide their exoskeletons (well only for the t-3000) and weapons as is the case with t-3000 i would say the reason they could go through is cause of the liquid metal can turn into skin as that is its main purpose to allow them to become human looking and go back in time. The t-3000 isn't much different she just has weapons built onto her exoskeleton and the liquid metal allows her to have a hand where as the t-2000 was all liquid metal.

But as you said its silly the head came through as its not ment to be able to come through or it might be able to come through but it can't function hence the terminators need a skin to travel back in time and complete it's mission

Altho i don't know how the head transmitted to this other terminator so the theory that they are useless if sent as the exoskeleton might not hold water

Just a though :)

Ummm, aren't most clothes organic? (Cotton, leather, etc) ;) ;D

And for the record people (I'm looking at you Mr I'm perfect HC):
T2 = T-1000
T3 = T-X

I'm not even a big fan and I knew that. :laugh2:

What I want to know is why skynet didn't send the T-1000000 back in time. ;D

Polyester, nylon, spandex, etc.  They're not nearly as organic as they used to be.

I don't get the girl killing herself either.  The whole thing seemed to be a setup so the terminator could say "I tried to give her a tight present."

I think part of the purpose of the girl killing herself is to build John's character as becoming a leader, hence the argument he had with his mom about it afterwards.

Because that would be A) cool and B) would almost prove there really are robots from the future trying to kill humans so skynet may not be made afterall.

That and arent they for guard duty not to mention expensive to make or something like that?  I thought the liquid metal was tough to refine or whatever.

It's not organic things that go thru; it's living things.

As for the head going thru, it was initially covered with living tissue, but burnt off on it's travel thru time, because it wasn't completely covered.

Or something.  *shrug*

I think a good show would explain these things to the audience. Look at all the questions and assumptions that have been discussed in this thread alone. A good story line does not leave so much for the audience to guess about.

They could have easily explained the head if you could see skin flying off it as it came through, maybe when it hit the car hood, but all I saw was the metal skull. (Perhaps the gross factor, no wait, they didnt consider that when the doctor cut the newly skinned terminators eye slots????)
It would be nice (and advantageous to the show) if there are writers of the show reading this thread.
Kinda looks to me like they are taking key hotspots from the films and just redoing them.
Cant wait for someone to tell the terminator that it smells like you have a dead cat in there. (Remember what arnie said to that.)

It was explained in the book fairly well.  Living beings emit a field around them, so things like hair and nails will go thru.

Of course, it was only short hair in the book.  When Kyle went thru, his body hair was burned down quite shortly.   Doesn't explain what happens to Sarah and Summer's character.

In the comics a team of Terminators took one of the rebels, opened him up and did just that.

Why they haven't done that in a movie...can't say, I didn't write it.

I was wondering because the terminator (disguised as a teacher) has a gun hidden inside his leg in TV episode 1. Why not something more advanced from the future? Guess there is no "technical" reason they don't do it. Ah well.

He probably had it hidden in there because you can't just carry a gun into a school.  Why do the Terminators need guns, anyway?  Couldn't he just walk up to the kid and twist his head off?

It was more the fact that there was enough space there to hide the gun in his leg at all. ie that there would also be enough space inside a terminator to bring stuff with it through the time portal.

I guess they need guns because they are a bit sluggish when they are looking for a target. For some reason they can outrun a car, but when chasing a little boy they don't have enough speed :)

Here's an interesting thought:
Why not just cover a trunk with the same skin that covers the robot, stuff the trunk with plasma guns, photon torpedoes, flux capacitors, or anything else that will fit, then just toss the trunk in behind the robot?

Haven't it always been in the movie that they didn't have much time and sent a terminator back to get john? If so then they probably didn't have time to make a trunk full of arms

Isn't the whole purpose a terminator doesn't need guns? he's only needed guns when another terminator comes through

The metal skeleton types always seem to use guns though. But still, yes they would need the gun to fight another terminator. I just got a bit bored by the terminators throwing each other around with no damage done at all. Why do they even bother with their slapping and pushing? If they go back in time with a weapon that could actually damage another terminator then at least they could hurt each other.

That is true the exoskeleton terminators always seem to use guns but in almost every terminator movie (im abit fuzzy about this) didn't they send a terminator to kill john and they didn't know the underground sent a older terminator unit back to protect john? put that together with the terminators not thinking they needed weapons to kill john that might be why they never brought weapons besides T3 terminator

Ah true. Even in this TV series the terminator didn't seem to know about the girlbot.
