How do you guys power up & down your home made jamma machines.

That machine was wired traditional JAMMA throughout and I just added back the switching power supply (and bloody service/test switches).

Since this is not a normal JAMMA cab, normal rules would not quite apply (although I recommend the service/test switches that are so often overlooked). Since you have an ATX supply, I think you may need to jumper some pins to get the supply to power up in the absence of a power on signal from the mobo.

Other than that, you can't go wrong with Kevin's advice.

Make sure you check your manual DIP switches before boot.

Yes, to use an ATX supply one must short two pins. See the following:

Then either mount the supply so its on/off is accessible or put a switch in the power line leading to the supply.

In regards to the power sense line - that all crossed my mind.... but I'm curious since this particular JAMMA board is designed to be used with a pc power supply, I wonder if that part isn't already incorporated on the board itself already? (it's a possibility anyways)

I have will have the board today or tommorrow I will let you know

The boards I have seen only use a 4 pin "hard drive" connector from the computer power supply. Not the 20 pin motherboard connector that has the sense line.

The other choice is to use an older AT supply that does not use a sense line.
