Black window - No skin
« on: January 07, 2008, 03:04:05 pm »
I've been using wincab for some time up until a few months ago. My hard drive went out  and I lost everything. Anyway I got a new hd and started fresh. I installed wincab and all I got was a black window with wincab and the icon in the title strip. I then tried a copy from my other machine, same thing. I forgot about it until today and I've been messing with it again trying to get it to work. No luck but I did find out the keys are working. The escape key worked, so I tried some other keys and they all seem to work, plays songs and eveything.

I'm using xp pro and I have debugging set to 5
I don't know what to look for so I just searched the file for "error" and came up with nothing.

Heres the part where I hit escape.
Code: [Select]

Any ideas? I thought at first it might be a setting on my machine, but I'm not so sure now that some parts are working.

Thanks, Brian

From your description, I would guess video driver.  Are you on the most recent video driver for your card?

Also, you may want to try a resolution above and/or below the one you are trying to use and see if it works... that may help narrow the problem down.

You called it, the driver was missing.
My machine came with xp Home and I bought a xp pro upgade and the first time I had to reinstall windows and upgraded it to pro the sound drivers were missing. This time it was the video.

Thanks again, Brian.
