sound dampening

vertygo:
just put a bar fridge in the bedroom and am looking to dampen the sound a little when the compressor kicks in.

I figure the two options are the pc foam stuff (cheap)

or something like this stuff (expensive)
http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/flooring.htm

we have laminate, so I figure some underneath, as well as some around the motor. Someone also suggested lining the inner walls, but that might be abit much.

any thoughts ?

It also helps if you leave the fridge in the kitchen.

vertygo:
nyuck nyuck..  it's a bar fridge for those long hot nights.. er.. in summer.  :censored:

shardian:
Just remember that the coils and the compressor have to have clearance. The manual should spell the clearances out. That still DOES NOT mean you can enlclose either of them as long as the enclosure is 2 inches away from the compressor.

Odds are you will just have to deal with the sound. Next time buy a better fridge. :P ;D

I ended up building an entire room for my fridge to keep the noise down, I call it a kitchen.
