Dust on monitor
(1/2) > >>
specialmoose:
I searched but couldn't find much. I built my cabinet and finally got the plexi painted to be mounted in front of the monitor. My question is, what do you guys do about dust accumulating on the monitor? I read one poster used double sided tape and insulated around the monitor. Do you guys just remove the plexi (monitor bezel) and clean it ever so often?

Thanks

It's never had to routinely clean the monitor face on any of the cabinets I have.
I've got cabs with monitors that vary from nearly horizontal, to nearly vertical, and the only cleaning of the monitor face I've ever done on any of them was an initial cleaning on some of the really old ones.

Not that big of an issue. I'll clean it if I have it open for other stuff, thats about it.

I have my plexi w/a posterboard backing resting against the monitor's shell...so not much room for dust to enter.

I'd suggest that if it really bothers you...clean it well once...then vacuum any dust from the machine that you can get without sucking up parts (obviously!!)...then come up with a good way to limit the chances of dust getting back to the front of your monitor.

Cleaning every so often is the norm.  Just remove the plexi, spray some glass cleaner on and wipe it clean.  Depending on how often it's on (and the amount of dust that's ambient) you may not need to clean it for six months to a year.
